Palliative care, end-of-life care and hospice care are not a specialty. However, their practice falls across all disciplines, from cardiology to oncology, from neurology to geriatrics. It concerns all ages, from paediatrics to geriatric services. With the aim of taking care of the patient as a whole, it is not surprising that this work needs numerous competences from caring professionals (doctors form part of this) with practical experience. Multi-disciplinarity was therefore also necessary in writing it. The biotechnical model of traditional medicine is developing towards a medicine of the bio-psycho-social type where the care is patient-centred. Human sciences are no stranger to this, nor is palliative care.

The aim of this book is to present the various aspects of this from a practical point of view to doctors, interns, nurses and other health professionals working in a liberal or hospital environment.
